Shopify works from Lebanon. Here is what it costs each month, how a Lebanese store takes payment, and what the theme needs before it sells on a phone.
Shopify works in Lebanon, and Store Leads counted 6,310 live Shopify stores in the country on October 16, 2026. What the signup wizard does not tell a Lebanese owner is which parts stop at the border. The payment button, the delivery options and the theme on a phone all need local work before the store sells.
We build e-commerce stores in Lebanon, and most fashion and beauty brands that ask us for a quote already have a Shopify trial open. This post is the answer we send them. It covers what works, what the platform costs each month, and what we fix in the theme before launch.
Does Shopify work in Lebanon?
Yes, Shopify works in Lebanon: you can open a store, pick a theme and sell from Beirut today. Store Leads counted 6,310 live Shopify stores in Lebanon in October 2026, up 35% on a year earlier. The catch is checkout, because Shopify's own payment service is not offered to Lebanese businesses.
The admin, the themes, the app store and the hosting are the same ones a store in Dubai gets. Your products and orders live on Shopify's servers, so a power cut in Beirut does not take the store down. What changes is everything that touches money and parcels.

What countries is Shopify available in?
Shopify the store builder is sold almost everywhere, Lebanon included, but Shopify Payments is not. Shopify's help center lists 41 countries for Shopify Payments, from Australia to the United States, and Lebanon is not among them. A store in a missing country must use a third-party payment provider.
Stripe's global availability page skips Lebanon too. That matters because older guides on page one still tell Lebanese owners to plug Stripe into Shopify. A Lebanese company cannot open that Stripe account. The advice ends at the signup form.
How do Lebanese Shopify stores take payment?
Lebanese Shopify stores take payment through cash on delivery, a Whish Pay wallet checkout, or a local card gateway installed as a third-party provider. Whish says Whish Pay integrates with Shopify, so a buyer can pay from a Whish balance. Every one of these routes counts as third-party in Shopify's billing.
Jad Al Fakhani, the Lebanese e-commerce creator who posts as Wolf of Bey, announced the Whish gateway for Shopify in an Instagram reel made with Whish. His summary of the flow is the one we give clients: the buyer pays at checkout and the money lands in the merchant's Whish wallet within seconds. Merchants apply through the Whish app, so file that application in the same week as any card gateway paperwork.
We compared the routes and their cost per order in how a Lebanese online shop should take payment, so this post does not repeat that table. The Shopify-specific point is the surcharge. Shopify's pricing page charges 2% on third-party payment providers on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced. That comes on top of whatever the gateway itself takes.
Ask your gateway for its own rate in writing before you compare plans. It is the number Shopify cannot show you.
What does a Shopify store cost a Lebanese business each month?
A small Lebanese Shopify store costs about $59 to $119 a month in plan fee and surcharge, before apps and gateway fees. That range is Shopify's Basic or Grow plan on yearly billing, plus its third-party surcharge on $2,000 to $5,000 of monthly card sales.
| Plan | Plan fee, yearly billing | Surcharge on third-party payments | Total at $2,000 card sales | Total at $5,000 card sales |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $19 a month ($27 billed monthly) | 2% | $59 | $119 |
| Grow | $54 a month | 1% | $74 | $104 |
| Advanced | $299 a month | 0.6% | $311 | $329 |

The crossover sits at $3,500 a month in card sales. Below it, Basic is cheaper. Above it, the lower surcharge on Grow pays for the higher fee. The arithmetic uses Shopify's own plan prices: $35 more for the plan, one point less on every card dollar.

Apps are the line owners forget. Across Lebanese Shopify stores, Store Leads counts Judge.me reviews on 1,558 stores, Klaviyo on 673 and the Dondy WhatsApp app on 643. Some have free tiers and some bill monthly. Add the ones you will use to the table before you choose a plan.
Which stores are Shopify stores?
In Lebanon, Shopify stores are mostly fashion and beauty brands run from Beirut and Mount Lebanon. Store Leads finds 31.8% sell apparel and 20.3% beauty and fitness, with 2,865 stores in Beirut Governorate and 1,562 in Mount Lebanon. Only 33 run on Shopify Plus, the enterprise tier.
Our own sample agrees. In the Lebanese online stores we checked this month, Shopify was the most common platform by a wide margin, well ahead of WordPress, as our audit of Lebanese online stores reports. If a Beirut clothing brand you admire sells online, the odds are good it runs the platform you are testing.
Why does a Lebanese Shopify store still feel slow on a phone?
The theme was built for a desktop catalogue on a fast connection, and nobody tuned it for a phone on Lebanese mobile data. Our audit of Lebanese online stores read a median Largest Contentful Paint of 9.3 seconds. Google's guidance on LCP calls 2.5 seconds or less good.
This is where most of our Shopify hours go. On a fashion client's store this autumn, the colour grid that looked right on a laptop turned into a carousel on a phone. Shoppers could no longer compare colours side by side. We kept the swatch grid on mobile, hid the carousel whenever the grid showed, and fixed how the carousel loaded and swiped. Product images now load at the size the screen asks for.
The same store has a shop-the-look photo with a tappable hotspot on each item. On a narrow screen one hotspot landed in a clipped corner where nobody could tap it. We gave every hotspot its own mobile position, stored in Shopify metafields, so the merchandiser can move it without a developer.
None of that is exotic work. A theme demo never shows it, because the demo store has a handful of products and perfect photos. Before launch we check four things on a real phone:
- The product grid and colour swatches at the width of a common phone screen.
- Image sizes per screen, so a phone never downloads a desktop photo.
- Tap targets on hotspots, filters and the cart button.
- Arabic where the buyer expects it, since few of the stores in our audit of Lebanese online stores had any at all.
When is Shopify the wrong choice?
Shopify is the wrong choice when card sales grow large enough that the surcharge outruns a developer, or when the store needs logic no app provides. At Shopify's 2% Basic surcharge, $10,000 a month in card sales sends $200 a month to Shopify before the gateway is paid.
Bookings, made-to-order pricing and marketplaces with many sellers are the usual examples of logic that fights the platform. WooCommerce charges no platform surcharge but asks you to run hosting and updates. Our Shopify vs WooCommerce comparison for Lebanon covers that trade in detail. If you also sell from a shop counter, our custom POS vs Shopify POS cost breakdown prices that side.
For a single brand selling stock it holds, Shopify is still the shorter road to a store that works. When a client picks it, we quote the theme, payments and phone testing as one build. Our published price for a Voxire e-commerce build is $5,000 to $12,000, listed on our web design service page.
What should you actually do this week?
Open the trial, set up one real payment route, and test the theme on your own phone before you buy apps or a premium theme. Those three steps tell you within a week whether Shopify fits your shop, without paying for a year you may not use.
- Pick the plan from the table above. Under $3,500 a month in card sales, Basic is cheaper at Shopify's published prices.
- Apply for Whish Pay or a local card gateway now, and launch with cash on delivery while the approval runs.
- Open your store on a phone over mobile data. Tap every colour, filter and hotspot.
- Run the home page through PageSpeed Insights and note the mobile LCP. Anything above 2.5 seconds, the line in Google's LCP guidance, is the first job for whoever builds your theme.
